All too often the discovery of evil in others reinforces our own self-righteousness and so breaks our solidarity with those who sin. Instead of gossiping about them and their misdeeds, we, like Jesus in the Lord’s Prayer, can treat their sin as our own sin and plead with almighty God for their forgiveness.
